Join Hannibal Regional Hospital for the 15th Annual Hannibal Cannibal and Fun Run on Saturday, July 3. The 10K / 5K run and leisure walk begins at 7 a.m. (rain or shine). The Fun Run for children 10 and under will begin at 9:00 a.m. following the Hannibal Cannibal. There is still time to register! Due to the large number of runners this year, Highway 79 will be closed to traffic from 6:45-8:30 a.m. on July 3 from downtown Hannibal to Continental Cement. Runners are encouraged to use the left lane, while walkers need to stay in the right. The Hannibal Cannibal course begins at the Tom and Huck statue in downtown Hannibal, continues south down Main Street to Church Street, then to Route 79 south past Mark Twain Cave. Runners and walkers are required to master the sharp incline at Lover's Leap, nicknamed the Cannibal, for the race. The entry fee is $20 per person through June 27. After that, the entry fee increases to $25. The entry fee for the Fun Run is $15 per child. All entrants receive a T-shirt. Registration forms can be picked up at the Hannibal Regional Hospital Foundation office located at 175 Shinn Lane, the Information Desk at Hannibal Regional Hospital and KHMO and KICK-FM studios in Hannibal and Quincy. You can also register online at hannibalcannibal.com until midnight on June 30. This year race packets and registration for the race starts on July 3 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. While early packet pickup is encouraged, registration and packet pickup will also take place the morning of the race starting at 5:30 a.m. in front of the Tom and Huck statue in downtown Hannibal. This year participants will be given a “Cannibal Card” in their race bags which is filled with discounts from downtown merchants. In 2009 over 1400 runners and walkers participated in the Hannibal Cannibal and this year participation is expected to be even higher.
