Hannibal Regional Hospital Foundation has partnered with the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame to offer the Shoeless Joe's Celebrity Golf Classic on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Norwoods Golf Club.  Sponsorships and team registrations are now open for the event.  Golf teams will have the opportunity to play with a Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Celebrity during the tournament, and major sponsors will enjoy a night at the ballpark with the Hall of Famers on June 15 at the Cavemen game.  All proceeds will benefit Hannibal Regional Hospital Foundation’s Comfort and Assurance Campaign.

“Hannibal Regional Hospital Foundation has been working with local businesses to plan this exciting event for our community,” stated Wendy Harrington, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hannibal Regional Hospital Foundation.  “A steering committee has been working the past few months with the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame to bring this event to Hannibal.”

In addition to the Golf Classic, the steering committee has worked in conjunction with the Hannibal Cavemen to have the Celebrity Hall of Famers assist with hosting the Hannibal Cavemen versus Quincy Gems game on June 15^th.  The Hall of Famers will be available to sign autographs and meet fans attending the game.

“By combining two favorite summer pastimes, this event will not only be enjoyable for those participating, but also assist with contributing back to the community through proceeds made during the Golf Classic,” commented Randy Park, member of the steering committee.  "We are working on finalizing participation with the Missouri Hall of Famers and so far have a number of commitments from our Missouri Hall of Famers including Jack Clark formerly of the St. Louis Cardinals and Art Still formerly of the Kansas City Chiefs." 

The Hannibal Regional Hospital Foundation Comfort and Assurance Campaign is raising funds for patient amenities at Hannibal Regional Hospital.  Funds are being put towards wireless internet services for guests, patient and family communication devices, amenities for patients and other patient and family assistance projects.  Steering committee members for the Shoeless Joe's Celebrity Golf Classic include Mr. Joe Thomas, Bank of Quincy; Mr. B.
